Al Shaqab Opens Endurance Season
In the inaugural race of the 2009-10 endurance season, the Al Shaqab Endurance Team had a strong showing amongst the over 85 horses entered in the 80 km Junior and Senior Races in Mesaieed, Qatar, on Nov. 6, 2009.
The top four finishing riders in the Junior race were all Al Shaqab team members. Khalid Sanad Ali Al Nuaimi led the team with his win aboard Lasan with a total time of 3 hours, 22 minutes and 43 seconds. Only four seconds behind, Al Shaqab teammate Khalid Faleh Fadgoush Al Subaey crossed the finish line, riding Idaho Champ. Abdulla Towaim Ali Al Marri on Juleema and Hamad Ali Rashid Al Marri on Dragon JT finished the Junior race in 3rd and 4th place, with times of 3:37:03 and 4:43:14, respectively.
The Senior race had seven Al Shaqab team members finish successfully. Mohammed Tahous Saif Al Suaimi was the highest placing team member in 3rd on Hidalgo with a time of 3:21:42. Abdulrahman Saad A Al Sulaiteen was right behind in 4th on Briscou Des Ors in 3:24:09. Mohammed Sanad Al-Naimi and Nawab Ali finished in 7th and 8th respectfully. Fahad Mohammed Moneef Al Hajri, Iliyas Khan Mustak Khan and Omaier Saleh N R Al Naimi completed Al Shaqab's finishers in 12th, 13th and 17th .
