For many years, Al Shaqab has been a highly-requested destination of visitors to Doha.  In response to this interest, the new facility will include a visitor's center and museum to showcase the heritage of the Arabian horse.

World Champion Sire Marwan Al Shaqab Tests Negative for Cerebellar Abiotrophy

Doha, Qatar - In an effort to promote the highest standards for Arabian breeding and assist with ongoing research efforts, officials of Al Shaqab, member of the Qatar Foundation, have tested three-time world champion sire Marwan Al Shaqab for the genetic neurological condition, Cerebellar Abiotrophy (CA).
Results from the University of California, Davis Veterinary Genetics Laboratory were negative and ruled out that Marwan Al Shaqab "possess markers associated with CA."

Qatar Team Wins Silver Medals in 2008 World Endurance Championship

Terengganu, Malaysia - A jubilant Qatar team proudly took to the podium on Sunday as they receivedmedals and a trophy for their second-place team finish in theWorld Endurance Championshipheld in Terengganu, Malaysia on Friday and Saturday, November 7 & 8.Despite overnight rainstorms and periodic lightning, notthe weather or the 160 kmcourse couldstop the Qatar Endurance Team as they posted their best finish ever in the competition with a second behind the winning United Arab Emirates team. The final team times wereUAE,27:57:59 and Qatar, 28:47:17. Bahrain took third with a time of  30:54:22 to Portugal's 30:58:52.

Qatar Team Ready for 2008 World Endurance Championships

Doha, Qatar - The Qatar Endurance Riding team is looking to its future as it prepares for the 160 km World Endurance Championship (WEC) to be held on November 7 in Terengganu, Malaysia. After two years of competition to qualify, Qatar will be represented by a rapidly developing group of young riders that features one seasoned veteran, 44-year-old Atta Mohammed Beer. This will be the fifth WEC appearance for Beer, who competed in his first championship in 1998 and finished 15th in the international field in Dubai.

Takes Aim on World Championship 07/10/08, Doha, Qatar - After three years away from the show ring, two-time World Champion Marwan Al Shaqab proved that he is still the benchmark for Arabian stallions in his stunning return to competition.The eight-year-old convincingly won the Senior Stallion Championship at the 26th All Nations Cup with a score of 95 out of a possible 100 at the recent event in Aachen, Germany.

Final Entries Due on Oct. 1 for Championship in Malaysia


25, September, Doha, Qatar - After two years of preparation and competition the Qatar Endurance Team has qualified eight riders for the FEI World Endurance Championship to be held 6th-9th November in Terengganu, Malaysia.Although eight riders have qualified only six riders are allowed to compete. Qatar team officials must trim the list to six and submit the final entries to the sports governing body, Federation Equestre Internationale, by October 1.
The eight riders include: Faleh Nasser Abugnaim, Ali Yousef Al Malki, Abdulla Towaim Al Marri, Hassan Tahous Al Nuaimi, Khalid Sanad Al Nuaimi, Mohammed Tahous Al Nuaimi, Mohammed Sultan Al Suwaidi, and Atta Mohammed Beer.

The Return of a Champion
Marwan Al Shaqab Returns to Arabian Show Ring at All Nations Cup

Doha, 15th, September, 2008 - In the world of Arabian breeding and shows Marwan Al Shaqab has dominated in both the show ring and as a sire of international champions.Owned by Al Shaqab, a member of Qatar Foundation, and managed by Sheikh Hamad Bin Ali Al Thani, the two-time World Champion will now take aim for a third as he competes for the title Senior World Champion Stallion. Marwan Al Shaqab's return to the show ring is scheduled for 26-27, September 2008, at the prestigious All Nations Cup at Aachen, Germany. The competition will be the 8-year-olds first since the 2005 U.S. National Championship. Following the All Nations event, the Qatar born and raised eight-year-old will then compete for the ultimate title, Senior World Champion Stallion. The champion will be named at the World Arabian Horse Championships held at the Salon Du Cheval in Paris, 12-14 December.

Marwan Al Shaqab sons win World Champion and Reserve World Champion Junior Colt

The sons and daughters of Al Shaqab World Champion Stallion Marwan Al Shaqab continue to dominate show rings around the world. At the 2007 World Championships, held at the Salon du Cheval in Paris, Marajj (Marwan Al Shaqab x RGA Kouress) earned World Champion Junior Colt honors. He is owned by Sheikh Mohammed Bin Saud Al Qasimi of Sharjah. Reserve World Champion Junior Colt, Marquis (Marwan Al Shaqab x Rohara Magnifica) represented the Al Khalediah farm of HRH Prince Khaled Bin Sultan Al Saud of Saudi Arabia. Congratulations also to the Michalów Stud of Poland for their Top Ten Victories in Paris with the Gazal Al Shaqab daughters Ejrene and Pistoria.
