Marwan Al Shaqab's record third World Championship highlighted Al Shaqab's sensational 2008 show season that included an illustrious roster of stars. The females were represented by a formidable group of multiple champions and class-winners that included: Venetzia, Abha Myra, PS Rose of Raswan, Miss El Power and Nouf Al Shaqab. Joining this illustrious group of females were the brilliant Al Shaqab males: Al Adeed Al Shaqab, Rayyan Al Shaqab, Mardigras JMF, Naaman Al Shaqab and, of course, our absolutely amazing Marwan Al Shaqab. His legendary status in the show ring was rivaled only by the success of his offspring, who impressively dominated 2008 arenas literally around the world. The crowning achievement of Marwan Al Shaqab's brilliance as a sire was displayed in the World Championships. As the Champion of Champions, Marwan Al Shaqab's offspring accomplished an unprecedented sweep, winning the titles of Champion and Reserve Champion in both the filly and colt division.
In October, a continent away from the World Champion success in Paris, the largest Arabian horse show in the world, the U.S. National Show in Tulsa, Oklahoma, also saw its 2008 breeding classes dominated by the offspring of Marwan Al Shaqab, followed closely by those of his sire, Gazal Al Shaqab.
This laudable confirmation of Marwan's genetic prowess followed his own triumph at the September All Nations Cup in Aachen, Germany, where he was named Senior Champion Stallion. This marked Marwan's return to the European horse show scene following an absence of several years during which he held court in the breeding program at the prestigious Michael Byatt Arabians near New Ulm, Texas.
Marwan also was given the rather unofficial "Most Precious Moment" award at Aachen when, after the stallion's win, world-renowned trainer Michael Byatt rode Marwan bareback into the arena, guiding him with little more than a show halter - an amazing testimony to Marwan's good nature and excellent mind.
Around the globe, Marwan and his offspring - along with several other Al Shaqab superstars - achieved one championship after another throughout the year. Congratulations go to Al Shaqab Breeding and Show's management for their planning of these highly successful campaigns, and to the Al Shaqab staff for the superior care given each and every Al Shaqab horse - whether at home or on the road.
