In equestrian sports, CHI (“Concours Hippique International” or Equestrian International Competition) is a title of nobility, something rare that does not come easy. Organizers of major equestrian events covet to have this title and riders participating at CHI events compete fiercely to win. CHI AL SHAQAB is the first and only equestrian competition of its kind in the Middle East and Asia to be sanctioned by the FEI (Fédération Equestre Internationale or International Equestrian Federation) and one of only 4 CHI equestrian events in the world.
CHI AL SHAQAB 2019, will feature three Olympic equestrian disciplines over a period of three days. This includes Show Jumping, Dressage and Para Dressage. CHI AL SHAQAB 2019 will also include a festival area with a food tent, coffee corners; an entertainment zone with interactive videos and virtual reality games; F1 and horse simulators; and pony rides.
A range of traditional cultural activities are also planned for children and adults alike, featuring henna painters, falcon handlers, and delicious traditional food to enable international visitors to experience Qatari hospitality.
By organizing and hosting the three-day event, Al Shaqab supports Qatar National Vision 2030, which aims to promote Qatar as a world-class sports destination, while paying tribute to the country’s rich equestrian heritage.
The seventh edition of the prestigious equestrian event welcomes top-ranking local and international riders to compete in the disciplines of showjumping, dressage, and para dressage.
Besides ensuring an action-packed sporting competition, Al Shaqab will ensure that there is a festival area offering a range of educational and entertainment activities suitable for the entire family.
CHI AL SHAQAB 2020 is testament to Al Shaqab’s standing as a center of global equestrian excellence and a premier international competition venue, while the festival atmosphere during the event will help provide a memorable experience for one and all.
Further information about CHI AL SHAQAB 2020, including rider lists and details about ticket sales, will be released soon.
