CHI AL SHAQAB would not and could not happen without our dedicated and hard-working volunteers. Volunteering is often the first step for people pursuing or advancing a career in the field of sports. These positions are unpaid but will provide priceless experience. Several departments have their role to play in making the festival happen, and they are all looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join them! Volunteers with different skill-levels and experience are invited to apply, from students to professionals. Depending on availability, you will be working with one or several departments before the festival starts and during the event itself.
Some of the volunteering benefits include meeting new people; you will meet fellow volunteers, CHI AL SHAQAB staff and most importantly festival guests. You will also work with equestrian professionals who will share their sport experience and enthusiasm for CHI AL SHAQAB. You will also be able to attend events, as well as the festival area, during and/or after your shift. Above all you and all our other volunteers will be proud to be one of the amazing people that make CHI AL SHAQAB happen!
The volunteer training begins in February. You can work before the festival, during the festival, or both, according to your schedule and depending on the departments’ needs. As a volunteer, you will always be in contact with the Volunteer Coordinator regarding shifts.
If you are a volunteer working only during the festival (2 - 5 March 2016) you are required to commit to at least four shifts.
As a volunteer you are required to speak English. Knowledge of other languages, Arabic in particular, is of great value. Knowledge of equestrian sports is not necessary, but advantageous. Our volunteers will be expected to commit to their responsibilities, follow their coordinator’s instructions and remain dedicated to their responsibilities.
In return for giving up your free time, you will:
- Gain work experience among industry professionals.
- Get free meals during the event.
- Attend the Volunteer Appreciation Dinner to celebrate your hard work.
- Be awarded an official Certificate of Appreciation for your involvement.
