Omar Al-Mannai, a native of Doha, Qatar, began riding at age six. After having demonstrated a natural aptitude for the sport, he soon became a member of the National Youth Team of the Qatar Equestrian Federation. As a young rider he traveled to Ireland to improve his equestrian skills and soon was competing in the classic disciplines of show jumping, dressage and three-day events.
In 1991, after achieving success in regional events, Omar moved on to meet the challenges of international show jumping competition. By 1995, he had achieved a memorable win at the Al-Aqaba Grand Prix in Jordan. Other top accomplishments included a second in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, individual wins in Syria and Jordan, a victory in the Grand Prix in Bahrain, as well as individual wins in Europe. He also actively participated in Dressage during the 2006 Doha Asian Games.
During his riding career Omar spent nearly six years training and further developing his equitation skills with some of the world's top riders including, Christoph Koschel (Germany), Ludo Philippaerts (Belgium) and Marcel Rozier (France) and he also attended the famed French riding organization, Le Cadre Noir de Saumur.
He joined AL SHAQAB in July, 2007, and has enthusiastically set about the transition from international competitor to equestrian instruction. In this challenging role, Omar is dedicated to ensuring that young riders are able to develop and achieve their own dreams of success in equestrian pursuits.
Almannai has served AL SHAQAB as the commercial Manager .
